This is a handy dandy gift basket to make for unexpected (or expected) visitors this holidays. I made one each for the kids to take to their teachers.

You will need: 1 12x12 cardstock
2 co ordinating pp's (I have used BG from the shop)
a length of ribbon
scoring tool (or scoring blade on a cutter)
bone folder (if you have one otherwise a clean spoon is good)
glue or tape
chalk & sponge or dauber
hole punch
ruler

STEP 1:

Mark out and score your cardstock at 4 and 8 inches, horizontally and vertically. Score a diagonal in each corner square from the outside corner to meeting point of the scored lines.

STEP 2:

Fold each score inwards to the centre of the cs to become 'valley' folds. The diagonal scores need to be 'mountain' folds so you fold on the score to the underside.

STEP 3:

Chalk or even ink each of the fold lines on both sides of the cardstock (top and base)

STEP 4:

Cut your pp's into 3.5 inch squares. You need to cut four of each design in half diagonally.

STEP 5:
Using one design for the top/inner of your basket and one design for the base, adhere your diagonals to the diagonal spaces, positioning them in the centre of the spaces so they have an even border of cs on each side.

STEP 6:

Using the remaining pp squares, fill in the spaces on the inner of your basket, it should be the one you have not used on this side(you will need 5 here) Turn over and do the base, leaving the centre blank as it will not be seen.

STEP 7:

Punch two holes in each corner, a sensible distance from the edge of the cs as you don't want it to tear easily. You can reinforce the holes with an eyelet, which i haven't done as i didn't have the correct size for my ribbon! Embarassed

STEP 8:

Thread your ribbon through each hole as shown. Tie a beautiful bow and you are done. You can make a coordinating gift tag with your scraps, and add any other embellishments you may like. (Choccies are my fave embellishment!)
