Hi all!

Well I’m back with a few more pages from our gallery that were uploaded last week.

On this page Maggie has very cleverly used the circle so that it draws your attention to the photo.

By creating a triangle with three clusters of embellishments within the white space, Geraldine has created a page that highlights the photo perfectly.

Ceci has created a fresh, eye catching page by combining the colours hot pink and aqua.

My last choice for this week is a fun card created by SharonD.

Welcome to a new segment to be featured on the Chook Scraps blog. The weekly roundup will showcase what has been happening in the nest during the past week. Last weekend was our monthly cybercrop which means we have had over a hundred scrapbook pages, cards and photos uploaded to our gallery in the last seven days. I have chosen a few of the scrapbook pages to share with you but there were too many for one post so I will be sharing some of them today and the rest tomorrow.

This page was created by Wendyq and I chose it because I love the way Wendy has used splashes of bright colour to create a triangle that immediately draws your eye to the photos.

This next page was created by Emma and I love the way Emma has created dimension and depth on her page by layering the elements with foam mount.

By creating a monochromatic page using neutral brown shades Marion has created a page that really makes the photos pop.

Latly I would like to share this page by Sue-Maree. The large brackets frame the photo beautifully and colouring the transparent butterflies with the copic markers adds a lovely splash of colour to the finished project.

I am clearing some older posts out of the forum but couldn’t bring myself to just delete the classes so  I am going to showcase them on the blog before deleting. This great class from Susan certainly contains a lot of wonderful hints and tips.

Requirements

a photo…I have used a 6 x 8 but a smaller one would work just as well
1 sheet of white cardstock
1 sheet patterned paper and two sheets of co-ordinating cardstock
a paper doily (if you don’t have one you can pick them up at party goods stores….or go beg your local coffee shop for one. )
a paper serviette with a pattern on it that you like.

Instructions

Grab your serviette and separate the layers….you only need the uppermost patterned layer of it.

Once separated scrunch up the top layer of the serviette  into a little ball….unscrunch it and using a glue stick or craft glue attach it to your white cardstock.

The next step is to add some colour and some shimmer to your serviette page. I have used two different shades of red/pink glimmermist to add some depth to my page.

Ok….set aside your serviette background to dry.

Take two other cardstock sheets and a patterned paper….

Cut one sheet of cardstock to 25cm square

And the second one to 24cm square

Adhere the smaller card to the larger leaving a nice border all the way around. Ink the edges.

Adhere this cardstock mat to you serviette cardstock on a slight angle.

Next

Cut your piece of patterned paper using a scalloped edge….so that it is slightly smaller than your 24cm square cardstock and adhere that you your cardstock mat…align it so that it is upright on your page (you know..not on an angle…but it will be angled to the card mat.)

Doodle around the cut scalloped egde.

Take a paper doily….and spray with a contrasting glimmer mist…if you don’t have another colour, you can alter it with paint, ink, chalk or you can just leave it white.

Distress the edges of your photo. Then attach your photo to the layout tucking the doily under the edge of your photo.

Using paint or ink on the edge of a piece of scrap card stamp journal lines onto your doily and edging onto your photo.

All that is left to do is to add your title and embellishments.

I thought I had updated this about 3 months ago but just discovered I hadn’t. So, way back in January Willow’s challenge was to use no inking, hand cutting, non-sticker title and 1 photo

Kylie took up the challenge of using

1. Use both sides of a Double-sided PP
2. All words in title must start with same letter
3. Journalling of min. 20 words
4. Only 1 flower

Flea then was required to use Bling, 2 photos, 2 animals  and a scalloped edge.

This lovely layout  is Susan’s response to her criteria of a Scenery photo, a Larger that 6×4 photo, Green and a Chipboard title.

The Road Less Travelled

Nicole (gallopingfool)was asked to use an overlay, at least two flowers, no card stock and a mixed alpha title.

Christmas Play

My challenge was to use bling, paint, shredded edges and some blue paper.

Ceci’s poignant layout included lace, a photo of an older member of my family, handmade flowers and distressed edges.

Holding it all together

Rachel’s challenge was to scrap an emotional or moving time/moment in your life, use a four word title, include a tree and a large circular shape (circle or a half circle).

It was wonderful to see the different interpretations of the challenges this month. There was a lot of scope with the criteria for each challenge so there was an abundance of variety.
