What you will need:-

*card base - i used kraft

*2 pp’s

*twine

*alpha stickers

*flower punch and 2 leaves

*pen, ink

Step 1

Choose a pp for a base, and cut just slightly smaller than the card base.  Doodle around the edges of both.

Step 2

To make the banners, cut a strip out of the 2nd pp, about 4cm wide. Fold this in half length ways. Cut off sections about 1.5cm wide until you have enough to put the sentiment on.

Step 3

Cut a ‘V’ into the open end of each of the pp sections. Open each one up and stick down a piece of double sided tape, but don’t take the backing strip off yet.

Step 4

Cut twine into two. Create two strings of banners, again to suit your sentiment, by taking off the backing strip from the double sided tape and folding over the twine and sticking down. Doodle around the edge.

Step  5

Using the alpha stickers, create a sentiment, attaching a letter per piece of banner.

Step 6

To make the flower, punch out 6 flowers out of the base pp. Layer the flowers and attach together using a brad. Fluff up the petals.

Step 7

Use dimensional tape to adhere the bottom banner.

Step 8

Attach the banner, and flower/leaves to the base pp, making sure to tuck the ends of the twine around the back of the pp. Attach everything to the card base.

And you’re done.

Here’s the finished card:

You will need:

• 10cm x 14.5cm piece of patterned paper for the background
• 2 cardstock strips – one 14.5cms x 1inch and the other 14.5cms x 7/8th inch
• 2 scalloped circles – one 8cms in diameter and the other 6.5cms in diameter
• Rubon image to put on the 6.5cm circle
• Blank card
• 20cm piece of ribbon (not pictured)

Instructions

1. Dry emboss the two strips of cardstock and then ink the edges of all pieces.
2. Adhere patterned paper background to card. Adhere the two cardstock strips down the left hand side of the patterned paper placing the skinner strip in 0.75cms from the left hand edge of the patterned paper and the wider strip parallel to the first strip and about 0.3cms to the right of it. Adhere the larger circle in the middle top of the card.
3. Add rub-on to the smaller scalloped circle and adhere the circle with foam mount or pop dots in the middle of the larger scalloped circle. Adhere the ribbon across the bottom of the card adding a knot to the right hand side and your card is finished.

Here is another version of the same design – the differences being I have stamped an image on the smaller circle and instead of the ribbon I have added a matted, stamped greeting to the bottom right hand corner of the card.

You will need:-

- A card base – I used kraft

- 3 pp’s

- bling

- Ink

Step 1

Cut 2 pieces of pp, one slightly smaller than the card base, and one slightly smaller again. From the smaller piece we will cut out a christmas tree shape. For this i drew a christmas tree free hand on a scrap piece of paper and cut it out to use as a template. I then traced this onto the back of my pp and then cut it out.

This is the tree drawn onto the back of my pp.

And then this is with the tree cut out, the pp turned over, and loosely laid on top of the larger piece of pp and cardbase.

Step 2

At this stage i decided the card was going to need a little something else so decided to add a pp bow. Make this bow using 4 strips of pp. One becomes the ‘ribbon’ piece, two are folded over themselves and stuck to become the ‘bows’ and one wraps around them all to neaten the bow and help to keep it all stuck together. Ink all the edges of the pp and the bow.

Step 3

Once the bow is all stuck together stick it down, across the card, along the bottom of the christmas tree. Tuck the ends of the ‘ribbon’ around the back of the pp.

Step 4

Now to construct the card. Stick the larger piece of pp to the cardbase, then attach the chrissy tree cut out piece - using dimensional tape/foam.

Step 5

Add a bit of bling, some at the top of the christmas tree, and a small row under the ribbon. I didn’t add a sentiment as the pp i used was covered in ‘happy holidays’, so it was unnecessary, but you could add one where ever works for you.

Photographic Challenge
It was really hard to choose a winner for this challenge (based on the title of the song ‘Pieces of Dreams’) as everyone had such a wonderful take on the theme. In the end, though, we have chosen Ceci for her originality and creativity with this clever photo.

Your challenge for the first round is to design a beautiful entrance to your house.

Entries are due and should be uploaded in the gallery by midnight (WA time) on 10th of May 2012.

You will need:

* a blank card (mine is 6×4)
* 2 pp scraps
* a small image (mine is 1 1/2″x1″)
* small doily (mine is stamped and is 2 1/2″ in diameter)
* ink
* sentiment (alphas or stamped)

Step 1
Mat the image. Ink as required.

Step 2
Lightly ink edges of the card using a blending tool.

Step 3
Cut pp base, approx 5″x 3 1/2″.
Ink edges.
Adhere close to left edge, leaving a space down the right side.
Sorry, I forgot to take a photo, but you’ll see it clearly in Step 5.

Step 4
Cut the second piece of pp to measure about 3 3/4 x 1 1/2 at the base and 1″ at the top.
I did this by measuring in 1/4″ from either side at the top and cutting at a slight angle.
Cut a V into the wider base.
Ink edges.

Step 5
Place this piece towards the left side of the card.

Step 6
Mount the image with 3D foam.

Step 7
Position the doily so that it overlaps PP2 and add the image.

Step 8
Place the sentiment in the lower right.

I also made a birthday card with this design, adding a punched edge piece of card and a stamped sentiment rather than the alphas.

Thanks for making the cards I have contributed to this challenge. With my retirement so imminent, I know I’ll be leaving you in very good hands. You are sure to be totally inspired over the future months!

Well done to everyone for their beautiful work in the gallery, and congrats to the winners.

another simple card for you today – i started with a chipboard start that i’d coloured green, but i wanted to add some sparkle.

i used dimensional magic to cover the star (you could use hot set powder) and then added some AED sparkle n soft (becuase that was the best colour i had).

i wanted a bit more sparkle than the flocking gave though, so i covered the star in another layer of dimensional magic. (if i’d had the right colour green glitter (without the flocking in it) i might have skipped this step, although it is a good way to make sure glitter stays where it’s put!)

i somehow deleted the photos of the sentiment, but it was just a matter of stamping, trimming to size, leaving some extra room under the sentiment, inking the edges and tying a bow with twine.

i tried out a green card base with a doily, and i liked it (happily – i usually try a coloured base and go back to white!)

i inked the edges of the card base with peeled paint distress ink…

…and finished by sticking down the doily, star and the sentiment (using foam tape for the sentiment where it didn’t overlap the star).

the most difficult part of this card was waiting while the dimensional magic dried.
